Teriyaki is a traditional Japanese flavoring to use with strongly flavored meats. This recipe is ideal for a weekday family meal. If at all possible, coat the beef with the marinade the night before cooking, and leave covered in the fridge overnight to develop the flavor.
Ingredients
1 lb. boneless beef sirloin steak steak, ¾" thick
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
4 green onions, cut into 1" pieces
1 cup diagonally sliced carrots
1 medium green pepper, cut into 1" squares or red pepper, cut into 1" squares
1 can Ready Mix Gravy
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. cornstarch
½ tsp. ground ginger
1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper
4 cups hot cooked rice
Preparation:
1. Slice beef into very thin strips.
2. Heat 1 tbsp. oil in skillet. Add beef and stir-fry until browned and juices evaporate.
3. Remove beef. Add remaining oil, onions, carrots and green pepper. Cook until tender-crisp. Return beef to skillet.
4. Mix gravy, soy, cornstarch, ginger and crushed red pepper. Add to skillet and heat to a boil. Cook and stir 1 min. Serve over rice.
